I was sitting at Panera doing some work on the computer. Most of the tables were filled, so there weren't a whole lot of spaces for anybody to sit. But you know how it is—there are always those people working on a laptop, taking up a table that's way too big for just one person. (Not me this time!)
But i here was this fella, probably mid-20s or so, doing some work on his computer. He looked about how I felt - wanting a coffee and a bagel and some time to get a few things done without having to converse with anyone. And unfortunately for him he was sitting at the table too big for just a single person!
Because this other guy walks in—button-down shirt, loud voice, already on a phone call. He’s walking around talking about "data" and "process" and a lot of other business-ey buzzwords. And, of course, he sits down directly across from the kid, at that table. He continued his phone call and oblivious to the person three feet away from him.
Introvert to introvert, I instantly felt for dude.
It’s not just about the table; it’s about the bubble. And business man popped it without skipping a beat.
You extroverts out there drive us nutty sometimes!!
