He came in through a hole drilled for the AC line, and he made himself a mansion. I mean, a good, old-fashioned, giant nest in the void between the drywall and the siding. He had insulation. He had shelter. It was nice and toasty for these cold nights we've been having. He had it made.
But like us—and just like we always seem to do—he managed to mess up a good thing.
He wasn't content with the space he had. He continued to "nest out." He kept expanding until eventually, he ate a hole right through the drywall and into the room.
That was the moment I became savvy to his presence. And that was the end of the road. I cleared out the nest, patched the outside hole, and evicted the little critter.
If he had just sat still and said good enough is enough, he could have stayed warm all winter. But he had to keep expanding and asking for more.
Sometimes, you just gotta leave well enough alone. Stop trying to do stuff. When you've got a good thing, don't chew a hole through it.
